Advent Fun, Faith & Family
Join Kurt and Catherine Findlay with their four young children as they share how they incorporate Advent customs and traditions into busy family life. Kurt Findlay is a Captain in the US Army. Catherine Findlay attended UVA and is a graduate of Bishop O’Connell High School and St. Thomas Aquinas Regional School. They currently reside in Fort Lee, VA.
My Little Felt Friends Craft
Make this adorable Baby Jesus craft for your children. The straw is made from cut up yellow yarn. For every good deed your child does during Advent a string of yarn is given to fill up the empty manger and make a nice warm bed for Baby Jesus. Adrianna Castro is the owner of My Little Felt Friends. She designs and makes beautiful felt saint dolls and liturgical devotionals with skill and love. She is offering this workshop and is also one of our vendors.
Advent Fun, Faith and Service with Tweens and Teens
Beth Van de Voorde will share ideas, activities and resources to engage
your tweens and teens in meaningful service to the Church and civic
communities during this Advent season. A graduate of Seton High School, Beth is the daughter of Deacon James and Frances Van de Voorde and is a consecrated with Regnum Christi in Atlanta, Georgia. She has been actively involved in retreats, mission trips, clubs and religious education with tweens and teens.
Advent Fun and Faith with Grandmothers
Marianne Murad and Colleen Rooney team up to share bits of wisdom and faith-filled activities that can be done with your grandchildren and/or nieces and nephews. Marianne, a retired elementary school teacher, is the grandmother of fourteen grandchildren. She is a member of Holy Transfiguration Melkite Greek-Catholic Church. Colleen is the grandmother of six grandchildren and the author of Celebrating Advent and Christmas with Children.
Cooking with Our Lady of Guadalupe
This workshop offered by Sandy Greeley and guest will introduce the incredible story of Our Lady of Guadalupe's appearances to Juan Diego, in Mexico, 1531, and the amazing conversion of the Mexican Indians as a result. Sandy Greeley, chef extraordinaire, will share with you her knowledge and love of cooking from the Mexican culture with samples and recipes of mini quesadillas. Sandy Greeley is a food writer/editor, cookbook author and restaurant critic. She lives in Northern Virginia and is a member St. Veronica Parish.
